SyncMaster is a cross-platform ecosystem that unifies your Phone and PC. It enables high-speed local file transfer, shares your clipboard, and mirrors notifications, effectively breaking down the walls between iOS, Android, and Windows using a peer-to-peer mesh network.
Building a seamless 'AirDrop-like' experience across competing ecosystems (Apple vs Microsoft vs Google) is difficult because OS restrictions prevents background connectivity. We had to find a way to keep devices connected without draining battery or relying on a cloud server.
We built a hybrid discovery protocol that switches between UDP Multicast and mDNS to find devices on restrictive networks. We optimized the data transfer using raw WebRTC Data Channels for maximum throughput.
